Jamuniya, the latest 'rural' serial on Imagine TV, is the story of a girl trapped in a cursed house, and her only aim in life is to get out of the situation. The serial has garnered a good response from viewers. This is also partly due to the fact that it has an enviable star cast. Mohan Joshi, a well-known film personality, makes his television début in the show, and Phool Singh, of Bhojpuri films fame, plays an important role as well. The protagonist is a well-known television personality. The catch of the season, however, is Manmohan Tiwari, who was one of the finalists of Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, and who candidly admitted that he was there to become a celebrity.

The makers of the serial claim that this concept is 'different'. That we have heard before. What we have not heard before is the Chhatisgarhi dialect, which will be spoken liberally in the show. To add to the authenticity of the setting, the show is shot entirely on location in Chhatisgarh. Yash Patnaik, Chairman and C.E.O. of Beyond Dreams, says, "We decided to shoot in Chhatisgarh, so that the cast and crew can adapt to that culture, and imbibe their experiences in the show. We want our viewers to get the feeling of the reality of our villages." The entire cast had to undergo three months of language training in order to get their articulation right.

The story begins in Rajapur, a village in the interiors of Chhatisgarh. The protagonist, Jamuniya, is an orphan and lives with her maternal uncles and aunts in her grandfather's house. She is a soft-spoken and good-natured young girl, who has her own dreams and hopes. She is popular with the villagers. Her elder uncle, Bodhan, is a greedy, shrewd man, who resorts to deceptive measures to earn his livelihood. A matchmaker meets Ramlali, Jamuniya's aunt, and promises her money, if she gets Jamuniya married into one particular influential family. This family is a cursed one, and no woman has survived in the household for too long. Ramlali agrees, as she secretly despises Jamuniya, and considers her a burden.

Thus begins Jamuniya's journey, on Imagine TV, Mondays to Fridays, at 8.30 p.m.
