Cannes 2011: Ogilvy gets nominated in Film Craft; BBDO India in Creative Effectiveness

Ogilvy's film for the Indian Railways (Chuk Chuk Gaadi) has been nominated in the prestigious Film Craft category, while BBDO India becomes the first Indian agency to be nominated for the Creative Effectiveness award.

With just one silver in its bag, it has been a quiet week for Ogilvy India at Cannes. However, what could bring back the smile on the Ogilvy team is a nomination in the prestigious Film Craft category.

The Indian Railways film for which it has been nominated was created to showcase Indian Railways (IR) specifically for the Commonwealth Games. The goal of the campaign was to position the organisation as a responsive one with a human face, and to make a statement that it is an organisation for the people, by the people -- one which connects people, places and hearts.

Ogilvy Delhi had worked on this campaign on a project basis. The creative brief was very 'open' -- to showcase the place occupied by IR in the hearts and minds of 1.3 billion Indians.

BBDO India, on the other hand, has had a great run this year at Cannes -- thanks to Gillette. BBDO India's Women Against Lazy Stubble (W.A.L.S) has been nominated in the Creative Effectiveness category, introduced this year. This makes BBDO India the first Indian agency to be nominated in this category.
