Dip Sengupta to head Grey Delhi

Sengupta was vice-president and head of Meridian Delhi branch. He replaces Ketan Desai, who is relocating to Mumbai to head the agency's shopper marketing division.

Dip Sengupta will join Grey, Delhi as vice-president and branch head. Sengupta joins Grey from Meridian, Ogilvy India's sister agency, where he was vice-president and head of the Delhi branch.

The development has been confirmed by senior officials at the agency, on condition of anonymity.

Sengupta replaces Ketan Desai, who is relocating to Mumbai to head the agency's shopper marketing division.

Sengupta graduated with history, and later obtained Masters degree in the same subject from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He began his career at Ulka (now Draftfcb Ulka), Kolkata in 1993 as senior account executive and spent the next five years at the agency. In 1998, he moved to R K Swamy BBDO, Kolkata as account manager. At R K Swamy, he worked on brands such as Orient Fans, Reliance Telecom and Khadim's Footwear.

Next, he moved to Delhi in 2000 and joined FCB Ulka (now Draftfcb Ulka) as group account manager on Hewlett Packard (HP). After spending a year at FCB Ulka, he switched to Leo Burnett as account director in 2001 to work on brands such as Coca-Cola, Airtel, Dabur Honey and South African Breweries.

In 2002, Sengupta joined Ogilvy & Mather's Delhi branch as account director. At Ogilvy, he was promoted as client services director. In 2006, he shifted base to Ogilvy's Kolkata branch as managing partner and head, client services. At Kolkata, he worked on various brands including Vodafone, Tea Board of India, Lafarge Cement, Tata Steel, Khadim's Footwear and West Bengal State Aids Prevention and Control Society. Subsequently, he moved to Mudra's Delhi branch as vice-president in 2007, before moving to Meridian in 2008.
