Bates 141's Sailesh Wadhwa joins Lowe + Partners, Malaysia, as head strategy planning director

Sailesh Wadhwa, who was group planning director (Delhi) of Bates 141, and who recently put in his papers, has joined Lowe + Partners as head, strategy planning director. He will be based in Malaysia.

Wadhwa's responsibilities will include heading the strategy and planning segment. This will involve driving effectiveness and thought leadership for the agency.

Talking to afaqs! about the reasons for quitting Bates 141, Delhi, Wadhwa says, "Post my stint at Grey Colombo, I always wanted to work across diverse cultures. I felt Southeast Asian regions give you that kind of opportunity and exposure."

He adds, "I am now geared up with tons of enthusiasm and optimism to carry on a good job."

Wadhwa, who has more than a decade's experience in advertising, started his career with McCann Erickson Delhi. After that, he moved onto brand consultancy for seven years.

Wadhwa shifted back to advertising, with a job with Grey Worldwide, Colombo. He led a team there that created a global brand for 'Made in Sri Lanka' label, using new age marketing techniques.

In his career, Wadhwa has worked with various brands like Airtel, Hero Honda, Nestle, Reebok, Pantene, Pringles, Horlicks, and Zen, to mention a few.

He is the recipient of a Global Effie in New York, in 2009. He has also won AMEA Asia Marketing Effectiveness Award (AMEA) two years in a row, The Promotional Marketing Awards of Asia (PMAA) twice, and a few Effies.

Wadhwa completed his Masters in Advertising and Communications, and did an MBA from EMPI Business School, Delhi.
