Jaideep Mahajan returns to Rediffusion-Y&R as ECD and national head, art

He will be based in Delhi and will report to N Padmakumar, national creative director, Rediffusion-Y&R.

Jaideep Mahajan aka JD has joined Rediffusion-Y&R as executive creative director and national head, art. Earlier, Mahajan was executive creative director and vice-president, JWT.

He will be based in Delhi and will report to N Padmakumar, national creative director, Rediffusion-Y&R.

This is Mahajan's second stint at the agency. Before moving to JWT, he was with Rediffusion-Y&R as creative head on the Airtel and LG businesses.

D Rajappa, president, Rediffusion-Y&R, in an official communiqué, says, "JD will augment our talent pool further with his skills and infectious energy towards creating memorable work for our client brands."

After completing a degree in fine arts from the College of Art (Delhi), Mahajan went on to pursue Surface Designing Program from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Delhi. He then started working as a textile designer with Satya Paul.

His tryst with advertising began with FCB (now Draftfcb Ulka) in 1996, where he joined as junior art director. In 1997, he moved to McCann Erickson as art director. In 2000, he switched to Contract Advertising as creative group head. In 2003, he moved to Malaysia to join Leo Burnett/Arc Worldwide as senior art director. In 2007, he moved to McCann Erickson as creative group head in Kuala Lumpur, before moving to Rediffusion-Y&R in India.
