Leo Burnett team wins AAAI-Cannes Young Lions Creative Competition again

Vasanth Clement Ebenezer and Harshvardhan Tanwar of Leo Burnett are the winners from among 226 total entries. The brief was to 'Discourage people from using cell phones while driving'.

For the second consecutive year, Leo Burnett has won the AAAI-Cannes Young Lions Creative Competition. Vasanth Clement Ebenezer (art director) and Harshvardhan Tanwar (copywriter) of Leo Burnett Mumbai were announced as winners of the competition this year.

The winning copy showcases an application written by Ram Kumar, CEO, Autocad India, to the telecom ministry. The application depicts a cell jammer that needs to be fitted in the car so as to keep the phone signals at zero level. In the copy, the application mentions the number of car accidents in the country and requests the ministry to make the device compulsory in all vehicles.

The competition witnessed 226 entries this season. Announcing the results, Vinod Nair, convener, AAAI-Cannes Young Lions Creative Competition 2012, said, "The competition gives a rare opportunity to young creatives in India to participate in Cannes Lions and compete with the very best young talent in the world."

The judging panel included Josy Paul, chairman and national creative director, BBDO India and Sonal Dabral, chairman and chief creative officer, DDB Mudra Group.

The winning team from Leo Burnett will be the official Indian team to take part in the Young Lions Creative Competition 2012 at Cannes Lions. The winning team will leave for the festival in June to participate in the International Young Lions Creative Competition. The Times Group, the official festival representatives of Cannes in India, will bear all the expenses of the wining team's trip to Cannes.

For the record, AAAI-Cannes Young Lions Creative Competition is a national creative initiative taken by the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) and supported by The Times Group.
