Other interesting keywords or entrants to the fastest rising search list in 2010 are 'Way2sms' and 'Zedge'.

Internet search giant Google has released Zeitgeist - the list of most searched keywords across categories on the search engine - for 2010.

Interestingly, the search term 'Micromax Mobiles' has entered the list as the second fastest rising search term and the fourth most searched brand name on Google.co.in in 2010. 'Micromax' was not part of the topmost search terms list on Google in 2009; neither was it a part of India's first 'Brand Zeitgeist' announced by Google in May this year.

Surprisingly, other Microtek based mobile phone brands such as Lava, Karbonn, Zen and Lemon have not made to top keywords searched on Google India in 2010.

As per the details available on Google.com Insights for Search, 'Rising searches' highlight searches that have experienced significant growth in a given time period, with respect to the preceding time period. For instance, if we compare data for a search term during 2010, the time period serving as the basis of comparison is 2009.

Other unexpected entrants to the fastest rising keyword search list in 2010 are 'Way2sms' and 'Zedge'. 'Way2sms' is the eighth and 'Zedge' is the tenth fastest rising search term on Google.co.in this year.

Way2sms.com is a Hyderabad based firm which offers free SMS sending facility to its users, while Zedge.net is a mobile content discovery platform or website which offers free ringtones, themes, wallpapers and games for mobile phones. Zedge.net claims that it has 5.6 million mobile content items and receives more than 30 million unique users every month across web, mobile and Android platforms. Its users download 4-5 million items every day.

'IRCTC' is the top most 'fastest rising search' term in 2010. It was the third fastest rising search term in 2009.

Other fastest rising search terms this year are 'YouTube videos', 'Facebook', 'Twitter', 'Samsung Mobiles', 'Cricket live scores' and 'FIFA'. Facebook gets a larger volume of search share as compared to Twitter.

Among brand names searched, telecom related brands topped the Google search charts in 2010. Nokia, Samsung and Airtel, followed by Micromax, are the top most searched brands by netizens on Google.co.in in 2010.

'Maruti' is the only automobile brand which has made it to the Top 10 most searched brands on Google. Maruti is the sixth most searched brand on Google.

Other most searched brands in 2010 are 'Dell', 'Vodafone', 'Apple', 'Sony Ericsson' and 'HP'.
