eBay appoints Muralikrishnan B as country manager

Murali will replace Ambareesh Murty, who was heading eBay India as country manager since March 2008.

The e-Commerce company eBay India (eBay.in) has promoted Muralikrishnan B as country manager with immediate effect. Murali will be responsible for the eBay portfolio in India, Philippines and Malaysia. He will replace Ambareesh Murty, who was heading eBay India as country manager, since March 2008.

Prior to this role, Murali was working as senior director, marketing and product management at eBay India. On his appointment, Murali says, "Indian e-Commerce is rapidly evolving and eBay is uniquely positioned to continue to lead this growth. I am happy to take on my new role and look forward to further strengthening our leadership position."

Murali joined eBay in 2005, and has held a variety of leadership roles in eBay India. His many achievements included driving a scaleable hybrid local development model which significantly enhanced and localised eBay India's user experience. Murali is also responsible for building the eBay India brand. He has been part of the IAMAI (Internet & Mobile Association of India) e-Commerce and FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) retail committees.

Murty is an IIM Calcutta alumnus and has a BE in Civil Engineering from the Delhi College of Engineering. Prior to eBay, he has worked as a packaged goods marketer with Cadbury Schweppes for five years, during which time, he worked on various brand initiatives. He has worked with ICICI Prudential as vice-president, marketing and customer service, as well.
