MakeMyTrip now for smartphone and iPhone users

The applications provide details on flight schedule, status and timings, exclusive travel deals and also give information about nearest restaurants using device GPS capabilities.

Online travel portal MakeMyTrip has launched mobile apps for smartphones and iPhones with an aim to make travel planning fast, hassle-free and secure.

With the help of the app, the users can search and book flights on mobile. Passenger details can be stored on the device to avoid typing details every time for further bookings. The app also provides travel solutions; users can view booking details, make cancellations, request e-tickets and even track refunds. In addition, the app provides alerts on updated flight schedules, flight status and timings, as well as details on exclusive travel deals and instant personalised deal notifications.

The features of the app are designed keeping in mind today's social media friendly mobile users as it allows users to share their itineraries on Facebook and Twitter, thereby enabling them to share instant travel updates. Going beyond ticketing and planning travel, the application uses the device's GPS capabilities to find nearby restaurants. Online transaction can also be made through the app, which is secure and safe and can be done by credit or debit card as well as netbanking.

Amit Somani, chief products officer, Makemytrip.com, says, "MakeMyTrip was one of the top five most-downloaded travel apps in India, with only the BlackBerry app on offer. This response encouraged us to extend our product offering to other popular mobile platforms as well. With this launch, all smartphone users will now be able to have a seamless experience through their devices."

These apps are available for free download on Google Play and Apple App Store. The online portal had earlier launched the BlackBerry app.
