Spuul to stream IndiaCast channels online

The partnership will last for a year, and make available the older episodes of the shows on the online platform.

IndiaCast channels will now be distributed on Spuul, an online streaming service. Under this partnership, the content on Colors, MTV and ETV channels will be available on the digital platform. Older episodes of shows of these channels will be offered to the Spuul subscribers, just like YouTube.

In May, Spuul had announced a deal with IndiaCast to globally stream more than 60 current and upcoming Hindi and regional language films from Viacom18 Motion Pictures, Colors and Eenadu Television libraries. Spuul is hence streaming newly released movies (2013) worldwide. In fact, movies like Inkaar, Oh My God and Jab We Met, along with regional hits like Samanyudu were made accessible on the platform.

IndiaCast is a distribution company for the Viacom18 and TV18 channels. The deal allows the online platform to showcase shows like Comedy Nights with Kapil, Balika Vadhu, Uttaran, Sanskaar, Bani, Madhubala and Sasural Simar Ka from Colors and Timeout with Imam and Webbed from MTV India. The deal will include all the shows of these channels, unless there are some restrictions as in the case of 24, which is an international format.

Prakash Ramchandani, CEO, India, Spuul, says, "By bringing shows of these channels to our platform, we plan to give our users an instant and continued access to their favourite shows at their convenience. This association with IndiaCast only highlights our proposition of providing entertainment on the go."

Starting November, Spuul users can have unrestricted access to these shows on their PCs, iOS and Android smartphones, and tablets.

Anuj Gandhi, group CEO, IndiaCast Media Distribution adds that the deal helps both the companies. IndiaCast gets an opportunity to expand the channels' distribution to other digital platforms. On the other hand, Spuul gets vibrant content. "Spuul makes popular Indian entertainment content available on internet-connected devices through its platform. We are pleased to offer consumers our premium TV content and movies at their convenience, anytime, anywhere."

Spuul has consistently been expanding its content offering by partnering with leading entertainment houses. The platform also has popular shows from Star Plus like Mahabharata, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai amongst others along with a library of movies, TV shows and the latest blockbusters. In addition to a large selection of free movies, Spuul offers specials that are pay-per-view movies and a premium monthly subscription option. New titles are added weekly.

For the record, IndiaCast is a multi-platform 'Content Asset Monetization' entity, jointly owned by TV18 and Viacom18. IndiaCast's mandate includes domestic distribution, placement services, international channel distribution and ad sales, new media (digital) distribution and content syndication for all the group company channels and content.
