This is in line with the company's plans to diversify into B2B news and to adopt an aggressive strategy to redefine content delivery with a sector-wise approach. This comes close to the company launching ETTelecom.com, a news portal catering exclusively to the telecom sector in India, in October 2013.

As per the company, the portal has been launched with a vision to help professionals to make smarter decisions, and stay updated with the latest developments around the cutting edge information technology sector. The portal will feature blogs, opinions, editorials, newsletters, case studies and discussion boards to engage and inform IT leaders.

ETCIO was launched by NR Narayana Murthy, founder and executive chairman, Infosys, in Bengaluru.

The portal will serve as a platform for IT leaders to exchange ideas, discuss challenges and explore opportunities in the areas of services and apps, cloud computing, mobility, big data, analytics and much more.

ETCIO.com will also send out mobile-friendly daily newsletters on the latest and important news developments. To facilitate deeper industry engagement, ETCIO.com also plans to offer interactive webinars and live discussions.

Speaking on the occasion, Murthy said, "The role of a CIO has become very exciting in an organisation. Large organisations these days are involving CIOs in board room discussions. They are now involved in decision making process and responsible for taking the business to the next level. We are extremely delighted to have such a dynamic and focused portal catering to the entire IT sector, and wish the team very best in their endeavours."

Satyan Gajwani, CEO, Times Internet, states, "Technology is playing a key role in businesses and delivery of services. CIOs are becoming instrumental in providing competitive advantages to businesses through IT. ETCIO.com will empower CIOs by keeping them aware of best practices, products and solutions across the IT sector."

Last month, Times Internet had inked a strategic partnership with the US-based digital media company Ziff Davis to launch Indian editions of the company's gaming site IGN and men's lifestyle site AskMen.

The deal is a part of Times Local Partners (TLP) initiative and is similar to the Gawker and Business Insider deals, where Times Internet will have exclusive rights to IGN and AskMen brands and their content in India. The partnership grows the list of brands under the Times Local Partners as IGN and Askmen join the TLP portfolio, which has already rolled out the Indian editions of Gizmodo, Lifehacker and Business Insider.

Times Internet operates online properties like TimesOfIndia.com, EconomicTimes.com, Zigwheels.com, Indiatimes.com, Indiatimes Shopping, Gaana.com, BoxTV.com and others.
