"My purpose of joining GETIT was to transform it from a print media company to an online player. We have done that, acquired a new company and also signed a brand ambassador for AskMe and launched a campaign. I wanted to move on and look for newer challenges," he says.

Though Bindra declined to specify his future plans, he wants to spend time with the industry bodies like the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) and The Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE) and help the ecosystem grow before taking on new responsibility in a new company.

Prior to joining GETIT, Bindra was the regional director of Microsoft India and had spent six years there. He quit Microsoft in February 2012 and took a sabbatical for a year. In a 20-year career, Bindra has worked in various industries. He started his career with Tata Administrative Services (TAS) and spent 11 years with the Tata Group, across its FMCG and telecom businesses. He worked with Microsoft India for six years, heading its internet business and, subsequently, the retail, entertainment and devices businesses.

Bindra was also a part of the start up team of Baazee.com (now eBay India) as its COO and has been involved with the tech startup ecosystem as an entrepreneur, mentor and advisor. He has also been vice-chairman of the IAMAI and a member of FICCI Media and Entertainment Committee.

GETIT was earlier known as M&N Publications (it published yellow pages and telephone directories in association with the Department of Telecommunications), before it was re-branded in 2002. Now, it sees itself as an information provider and an intermediary that brings together buyers and sellers. Launched in 1986, GETIT is also a founder member of the Asian Vendors Inc., a partnership between leading yellow pages and database marketing companies in eight countries across Asia.

Backed by Astro and Helion Ventures, the company employs more than 1,000 people across the country and operates local search, classified and B2B marketplace businesses.
