Noted singer and composer, AR Rahman has announced the launch of the official AR Rahman app on Android and iOS platforms. The Oscar-winning singer will be able to engage directly with his fans via the app with exclusive content and merchandise. Fans can either buy or complete challenges in the app to earn points to redeem against content and merchandize.

The app has a consolidated social feed including Twitter and Facebook posts made by the composer himself. It also gives direct access to Rahman's videos as well as app-exclusive premium videos, exclusive photos , a gamified experience through challenges and rewards and an ability to buy Rahman merchandise.

The app has been created in collaboration with Qyuki.com, an online multi-channel network founded by Rahman, Shekhar Kapur and Samir Bangara. According to an official press note, more than three thousand gigabytes (GB) of content were consumed via the app in the first day alone. It was being downloaded at a rate of 300 downloads per second.

Speaking on the launch of the app., Rahman says, "This Independence Day, I wanted to thank my fans for their support by offering them a new and convenient way to stay in touch with me and my music. I am looking forward to a more engaging experience with my friends and well-wishers."

Commenting on the launch Qyuki.com co-founder & MD, Samir Bangara notes, "It's an opportunity to know Rahman via his music, watch videos, read trivia, and win cool stuff. If you are one of the tens of millions of AR Rahman fans, this will be a hotline into his life."

Launched in 2012, Qyuki.com helps creators build their fan following by producing and distributing online videos to create enduring intellectual properties.

The primary focus of Qyuki is to vest the power of creativity - and the ability to make money - with the creator. This power manifests in the form a network where the artistes can jam, create and make a living through something they're passionate about. These artistes have access to studio-floors, cameras, lights, editing suites, sound studios and a team of filmmakers, sound engineers and editors.

Some of Qyuki's artistes include Ranjit Barot, Anand Raj Anand, Shweta Subram, RaagaTrippin, Purbayan Chatterjee, Ramona Arena, Renee Mansata, Apernit Singh as well as unseen acts like the Dopeadelicz and the Slumgods.
