Viral Now: Time to reach for the (Kleenex) tissues

The tissue brand's new campaign, 'Unlikely Best Friends', has received 24 million views on Facebook, while it remains much less popular on YouTube.

Kleenex's new campaign 'Unlikely Best Friends' is leaving viewers teary-eyed.

The video features a dog named Chance who was left with only two legs after a road accident. However, he was given a home by a warm-hearted couple, one of whom knew exactly how it felt to be on a wheelchair. So, Chance stayed and slowly grew up to be a part of the family. He got wheels of his own, and now he and his 'human' play and make merry just like everyone else. The touching video ends with the message 'Someone Needs One' - implying how some viewers would be reaching out for a tissue (Kleenex), after watching the video.

The video has been made by Vimby for the Kimberly-Clark brand. Vimby has been working in partnership with VSA and Facebook, and is creating all the online videos for the 'Someone Needs One' campaign.

However, what is astounding is that while the video has got around 200,000 views on YouTube since its upload on June 24, it is on the social networking platform Facebook that it has truly gone viral. The video, uploaded on June 25, has got 24.5 million views on Facebook and has been shared over 656,000 times. This also points out that sometimes what doesn't work on a video sharing platform like YouTube, can get a word of mouth push and go massively viral on Facebook.
