Facebook makes capturing memories easy with Moments app

Moments groups photos on one's phone based on when they were taken and, using facial recognition technology, tags friends are in them, similar to Facebook photo tagging.

One of the most widely used features of a mobile phone is the camera. The advent of application-enabled smartphones that come along with a host of unique and updated features have added further convenience to this craze of clicking pictures. The delight of sharing cherished moments with the world via social media stands unparalleled in the present day and age. Keeping in mind the same, Facebook Creative Labs has launched an app in India called Moments which is available on Android as well as iOS.

With a phone at everyone's fingertips, the moments in our lives are mostly captured by our friends. It's hard to get the photos one's friends have taken, and everyone always insists on taking that same group shot with multiple phones to ensure they get a copy. Even if one ends up getting some of their friends' photos, it's difficult to keep them all organised in one place on one's phone.

Syncing photos with the Moments app is a private way to give photos to friends and get the photos one didn't take. Moments groups the photos on one's phone based on when they were taken and, using facial recognition technology, identifies friends in them. One can then privately sync those photos quickly and easily with specific friends, and choose to sync their photos with you as well. This, in turn, ensures that you and your friends have all the photos you clicked together.

Additionally, Moments also keeps all of your synced photos organised and even lets one search them to find the ones that you or specific friends are in. Moments also automatically creates beautiful movie compilations of your best photos, synchronised to music that you can quickly customise and share with friends.

Moments uses facial recognition technology to group your photos based on the friends who are in them. This is the same technology that powers tag suggestions on Facebook. The tag suggestions can be taken care of in the Settings menu.
