‘Rajasthan Patrika’ launched a daily Hindi newspaper called ‘Daily News’ on December 7; the new paper is being positioned as the newspaper for the masses

‘Rajasthan Patrika’ launched a daily named ‘Daily News’ in Jaipur on December 7. ‘Daily News’ is being positioned as the newspaper for the masses. It is targeted at the weaker sections of society as well as the youth.

‘Daily News’ will have specially designed content for youth, women and the common people of Rajasthan. According to officials at ‘Rajasthan Patrika’, the rationale behind naming the Hindi daily in English was that ‘Daily News’ is a catchy phrase and rings a bell with most people. More importantly, it connects with the youth, who are constantly undergoing a radical change in their outlook and lifestyle.

‘Daily News’ is priced at Rs 1.25 and contains 15-20 pages, of which 10 are in colour. The content of the newspaper will comprise national and international news, politics, sports and entertainment news as well as special segments for youth and women. There is a four page colour supplement containing local news and fashion/lifestyle news.

According to BR Singh, DGM, circulation, ‘Daily News’ has a subscriber base of 75,000 already and, in a span of six months, the circulation is expected to cross 1.5 lakh copies.

Arvind Kalia, national head, marketing, is extremely optimistic about the advertising opportunities that the paper will generate. “Any advertiser targeting the people of Rajasthan, be it in the field of retail, IT or FMCG, will be greatly benefited by associating with ‘Daily News’,” he said.
