The Hindi daily, after adding the Gorakhpur edition, will now have eight printing locations across UP.
Hindustan Media Ventures (HMVL), the publishers of the Hindi daily Hindustan, has launched a Gorakhpur edition of the paper today. The group had been planning to launch this edition for quite some time.
Gorakhpur will be the daily's eighth print location in UP. With this edition, the daily will complete its presence in Uttar Pradesh.
In an official communiqué, Amit Chopra, chief executive officer, HMVL, says, "Our expansion is a sign of our commitment to readers who, for long, have had a high regard for Hindustan and its standards of journalism. We at Hindustan firmly stand behind our promise of 'Kuchh naya karenge, tabhi toh aage badhenge'."
He adds that Hindustan has been on an expansion drive in the last few years. "The last four years have seen a series of launches, beginning with Meerut in February 2006, Agra in July and Kanpur in August of the same year. The Dehradun edition was launched in May 2008, the Allahabad edition in January and the Bareilly edition in October 2009," adds Chopra.
For the record, HMVL is the publisher of Hindustan; Hindi magazines Nandan and Kadambini; and the portal livehindustan.com. The newspaper has presences in UP, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand and Delhi. The company is a subsidiary of the HT Media Group.
