Sun TV elevates Vijay Kumar as COO

Kumar fills in the position left vacant by Ajay Vidyasagar, who had resigned in February, this year.

Sun TV has promoted Vijay Kumar as the chief operating officer. Kumar fills in the position left vacant by Ajay Vidyasagar, who had resigned in February, this year. He will report to Tony D'Silva, group CEO, Sun TV Network, and will be based in Chennai.

Prior to this elevation, Kumar was senior vice-president, Udaya TV.

Speaking to afaqs!, D'Silva says, "Kumar has been the main person behind the successful run of Udaya TV. In his new role he will fill the place left vacant by Ajay. This is a structural change at the group."

In an official communiqué, the company said that as the COO, Kumar will aid in further strengthening and vitalising the network's vision and strategy of retaining and expanding its reach and leadership position across the segments and markets it operates, while seeking to explore new, strategic and evolving cutting-edge trends across media.

Kumar has more than 18 years in the broadcast industry. He has been with Sun TV since 1993. During his tenure in Sun TV, he has been the mind behind establishing the brand, Udaya, across Karnataka, as well as launching six additional channels under the brand, Udaya TV.
