Indian radio stations bag 14 nominations at New York Festivals 2011

Big FM leads the shortlists among the Indian stations, with eight nominations in the list of International Radio Awards Finalists 2011.

New York Festivals' 2011 International Radio Awards Finalists have been announced for this year's Radio Program and Promotion Awards, and Indian radio stations have bagged 14 nominations.

Big 92.7 FM leads the Indian list of finalists with eight nominations. The station's nominated programmes are No Tension (Best Regularly Scheduled Comedy Program category), Big Mumbaikar (Heroes category), India Khele! (Sports Promotion category), Hindostaan (Public Service Announcement category), Short Songs (Public Service Announcement category), Green Durga Pooja (Green Promotion category), Hello 92.7 (Program ID category) and Rain (Station Promotion category).

Fever 104 FM's Fever Radio Ramayan has fetched the station two nominations for Best Sound and Best Editing.

Radio Mango also has two nominations. The station's World AIDS Day programme has been nominated in the Best Special Event category, while 'Raghu' has been shortlisted in the Best Personality: Local Market category.

Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM and 94.3 My FM, with a nomination each, complete the Indian nominations. Radio Mirchi's Mirchi Murga has been nominated in the Best Regularly Scheduled Comedy Program category, while My FM's Jiyo Dil Se Jingles has been nominated in the Station ID category.

The New York Festivals will honour the 'World's Best Radio Programs' at the 2011 awards ceremony on June 20, in New York City.

Each year, New York Festivals receives entries from radio stations, networks and independent producers from more than 30 countries and the entries are judged by international radio experts.

Nirupam Sonu of the creative and production company Idea Hub is the only jury member from India to judge the Radio Program and Promotion Awards this year. The 32-member jury consists of award-winning directors, producers, writers, reporters, programme directors, and other radio professionals from across the globe who volunteer their time.
