ZenithOptimedia enters Kolkata; wins media duties of home appliances brand IFB
The media agency, which has bagged the account through a multi-agency pitch, enters Kolkata with this win. The size of the business is said to be about Rs 15 crore.
ZenithOptimedia has won the media duties of the Kolkata-based home appliances company IFB. With the win, the media agency has forayed into the City of Joy, where it was not present so far. The agency won the business via a multi-agency pitch. The names of the other participating agencies could not be obtained at the time of filing this report. The size of the business is said to be about Rs 15 crore.
This is the first time that the home appliances company has called for a pitch. Prior to this, the media planning and buying was handled by a small agency on project basis.
For the record, IFB was incorporated on September 12, 1974 in West Bengal by Bijon Nag, an engineer by profession. The company was then into manufacturing of fine blanking tools, press tools, and fine blanked components, used in a wide range of precision engineering industries. It entered into a technical-cum-financial collaboration agreement with Heinrich Schmid, Rapperswill Switzerland.
Under this agreement, the collaborators were to furnish technical knowhow, layout, design engineering services, and drawings. In 1988, the company set up a new project and construction division to take up projects abroad, as well as in India.
In 1989, the company entered the home appliances business through a collaboration agreement with Bosch und Siemens Hausgerate GmbH, West Germany, for the production of fully-automatic washing machines, and for the manufacture of state-of-the-art domestic appliances such as microwaves, chimneys and kitchen solutions equipments.
