Lokmat Samachar, the Hindi daily from the stable of Lokmat Media, has undergone a revamp. The new look for Lokmat Samachar was unveiled on August 15 across Nagpur, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Akola and Jalgaon. This is the first time that the daily has changed its look since its launch in 1989.

The new identity of Lokmat Samachar boasts of a new design and easily navigable content, along with a colourful layout. According to the company, the new version aims to 'educate, inform and entertain' its consumers. The weekday editions will have different style and content from that of the Sunday newspaper.

To promote the new look and communicate the change to its consumers, Lokmat Media has launched a strategic campaign focussed on 'Utsah, Urja and Umang'.

Jwalant Swaroop, chief operating officer, Lokmat Media, says, "Our re-design is in line with today's Hindi-speaking audience, which is affluent, enterprising and aspirational, constantly thriving to keep itself updated with its surroundings. The contemporary and elegant design is easily navigable."

Mateen Khan, product head, Lokmat Samachar, says, "The Hindi readers' market in Maharashtra consists of early adaptors and is upbeat and financially sound. With this in view, we felt that there is a strong need to change. Especially, after 23 years, it was time to get in sync with the current perspective. It is our constant endeavour to re-engineer our product, based on the needs and requirements of our consumers."

According to the company, Lokmat Samachar had its Hindi-speaking audience engaged with its layout and hard core news reporting. However, with the changing times, there was a need to tune in the content to strike a chord with the new outlook. The fresh content will boast a reader-friendly and positive tone, offering better connect with its readers. The Hindi newspaper Lokmat has five editions in Nagpur, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Akola and Jalgaon.

For the record, Lokmat Media publishes three newspapers, 19 editions and 58 sub-editions in three languages -- Lokmat in Marathi, Lokmat Samachar in Hindi, and Lokmat Times in English -- across Maharashtra and Goa.
