In an official communiqué, Rao says, "Acharya moves into this role from Aegis Media Singapore, where she is credited with doubling the operation in just over two years. She is also no newbie at GroupM. She set up mConsult under Vikram Sakhuja in 2004 and has been an integral part of Fulcrum earlier."

She has worked with Mindshare Fulcrum as business head in 2000.

Meanwhile, in her new role, Acharya will head the Unilever business in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

"As CEO of Aegis Media Singapore, I was able to gain international and regional perspective, apart from honing my intercultural management skills. And, my tenure at TME taught me how to handle an extremely diverse set of clients and their different requirements. I intend to use my years of knowledge and understanding for Mindshare Fulcrum," says Acharya.

After completing post graduation from IIT Roorkee in 1990, Acharya started her career with Ogilvy, Chennai in 1994. After working for about a year, she shifted to McCann Erickson as media group head in 1995. After spending four years at McCann, she moved to Mindshare Fulcrum in 2000 as business director.

In 2004, she joined GroupM, where she set up mConsult, GroupM's marketing communication consulting venture. After about a year, she shifted to TME as president. She was responsible for re-launching TME with customised solutions. She also started the unit for non-traditional media solutions, 360 Degrees, and the interactive TME website. In 2009, she joined Aegis Media, Singapore as CEO.
