Star Plus continues to rule the roost, even after a loss of 14 points, to garner 248 GRPs. As per TAM, its channel share, too, has come down from 21.4 per cent to 20.5 per cent.
On the back of its reality show, Dance India Dance Finale, Zee TV has climbed up to No. 2 position in the GEC flock in Week 16 of 2012. While MSM's Sony continues to perform well with two of its properties in the top 10 programmes list, and not much fluctuation in the ratings, Zee has gradually garnered more GRPs each week.

The channel had been at the No. 4 position for a long time, until it started getting more GRPs and displaced Colors from its No. 3 position. It also gave a tough time to Sony for a couple of weeks and had a tie with Sony in Week 14, when both clocked 211 GRPs.
According to media planners, Zee has been working hard for a long time to get the right position. Praveen Tripathi, chief executive, Magic9 Media & Consumer Knowledge, says, "This is exactly what happened when Colors entered the list. It, too, gradually built its own space. Secondly, since the vacation has started, the overall viewership has gone up. Zee has always been a master of event-led shows like Sa re ga ma pa and now, Dance India Dance."
However, some have pointed out that Colors, too, has dropped its ratings significantly. Priti Murthy, national director, insights, Maxus, says, "There are two phenomena here. Colors has come down and Zee has gone up, ratings-wise. It must be noted that Zee has revamped many of its shows and also started the new shows. May be the new shows are working well for the channel."
At No. 2, Zee has garnered 214 GRPs, up from last week's 192 GRPs, with its channel share increasing from 15.7 per cent to 17.7 per cent.
Sony, which slipped down to No. 3, has gathered 209 GRPs, adding 4 extra GRPs to the score that it had registered last week. The relative channel share of Sony has also gone up from 16.8 per cent to 17.3 per cent in the current week (Week 16).
Interestingly, Zee TV and Sony had garnered the same numbers (214 GRPs and 209 GRPs respectively) in Week 12, while the top entrant, Star Plus, has seen a significant change. In Week 12, Star Plus was ahead with 104 points at 318 GRPs, while in the current week, it is a mere 34 points away from Zee.
However, Star Plus continues to rule the roost, even after a loss of 14 points to garner 248 GRPs, down from last week's 262 GRPs. Its channel share, too, has come down from 21.4 per cent to 20.5 per cent.
Meanwhile, the rankings of the rest of the channels continue to be nearly the same.
Viacom's Colors continues to be at No. 4, with its relative share at 16 per cent and its GRPs at 194 (up from last week's 190 GRPs).
SAB TV is at No. 5 with a share of 9.5 per cent (10 per cent in the previous week); its GRPs have fallen from 122 to 115.
Life OK is at No. 6, with a share of 7.1 per cent (7 per cent in the previous week), and a GRP of 86 (up from 85 GRPs in Week 15).
With the announcement of the shut-down of Imagine TV, its ranking (as per the relative channel share), too, has gone one position down from No. 7 to No. 8. It is replaced by Sahara One, which was at No. 8 earlier.
Sahara One is at No. 7 with 45 GRPs, down from 46 GRPs of last week. Its channel share has also fallen from 3.8 per cent to 3.7 per cent.
Imagine TV is at No. 8, with a 3.4 per cent channel share, as compared to 4.7 per cent in the previous week, and 41 GRPs, as opposed to 57 GRPs in the previous week.
STAR Utsav, at No. 9, has decreased its GRPs from 41 to 38 in the current week. Its relative share is 3.1 per cent, as compared to 3.4 per cent in Week 15.
DD National is stable with 1 per cent share, while its GRPs have decreased from 13 to 12. It is at No. 10.
Zee Smile follows next with 8 GRPs, and 0.6 per cent channel share.
Diya Aur Baati Hum (Star Plus) leads the list of the 10 most-watched programmes, clocking a TVR of 4.62, followed by Crime Patrol (Sony) and Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hai (Star Plus), with TVRs of 3.58 and 3.49, respectively.
The fourth most-watched programme is Sony's CID, with 3.31 TVR. Saathiya Saath Nibhana (3.3 TVR) and Is Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon (3.25 TVR) follow next. Next is Colors' Balika Vadhu, which has clocked 3.24 TVRs.
Zee TV's non-fiction property, Dance India Dance Finale, gathered 3.19 TVRs.
Pavitra Rishta and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai are also a part of the Top 10 list.
