GEC Watch: Sony back on No. 2; SAB secures its position at No. 5

Satyameva Jayate could finally make an entry into the Top 10 list of the GEC programmes; its third episode (telecast on May 20) stood as the 10th most-watched programme in Week 21, with 2.95 TVR, as per TAM data.

The two general entertainment channels of Multi Screen Media, Sony and SAB TV, were shuffling positions for a couple of weeks. This week, however, Sony has secured the second position after three weeks, garnering 219 GRPs (up from last week's 210 GRPs) and a relative channel share of 17.8 per cent (up from last week's 17 per cent).

Sony's sibling channel SAB has also regained the fifth position since it was replaced by Life OK in Week 20. In Week 21, the channel's ratings have decreased from 116 GRPs to 115 GRPs, with a channel share of 9.3 per cent.

Star Plus has maintained its position at No. 1, gaining 4 GRPs to garner 266 GRPs in the current week, against 262 GRPs of Week 20. The relative share of the channel, too, has gone up from 21.3 per cent to 21.6 per cent.

Slipping back to the No. 3 position, Zee TV has achieved 218 GRPs, up from last week's 213 GRPs. Its relative share has increased from 17.3 per cent to 17.7 per cent.

Though Viacom18's Colors has dropped its ratings by 12 GRPs, garnering 201 GRPs in Week 21, the channel has maintained its position at No. 4. The relative share of the channel has seen a substantial fall from 17.3 per cent to 16.3 per cent.

Life Ok, at No. 6, has gained 113 GRPs, down from last week's 123 GRPs. Its relative share has also decreased from 10 per cent to 9.2 per cent.

At No. 7, STAR Utsav has registered 41 GRPs, up from 36 GRPs that it had garnered last week. Its relative share has also increased from 3 per cent to 3.2 per cent.

Up at No. 8, Sahara One has garnered 41 GRPs, up from last week's 39 GRPs. The relative share of the channel has seen a marginal rise from 3.2 per cent to 3.3 per cent in the current week ending May 26.

At No. 9, DD National has gained 12 GRPs, up from 11 GRPs of the previous week. Its relative share is stable at 0.9 per cent.

Zee Smile and Imagine TV are positioned at No. 10 and 11, with 6 and 2 GRPs, respectively. Zee Smile has dropped its GRPs by one point, while Imagine TV is stable at the previous week's ratings.

Finally, STAR's expectations from its new flagship property, Satyameva Jayate, has started paying off in terms of ratings, as the third episode (telecast on May 20) of the show stood as the 10th most-watched programme in Week 21, with 2.95 TVR.

Diya Aur Baati Hum (Star Plus) leads the list of the 10 most-watched programmes, clocking a TVR of 6.03, followed by Zee's DID Little Masters at No. 2 with 4.69 TVRs.

At No. 3, Colors' Balika Vadhu gathered 4.14 TVRs. Next in the list are Star Plus' Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hai (4.01 TVRs), Sony's Crime Patrol (3.89 TVRs) and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (3.87 TVRs).

Sony's CID and Star Plus' Saathiya Saath Nibhana follow with 3.67 and 3.43 TVRs, respectively.

Punarvivah makes it to the ninth position with 3.22 TVRs, followed by Satyameva Jayate.

For the record, Satyameva Jayate stood at No. 12 and No. 17 positions for the first two episodes.
