Ashish Kaul to join Hinduja Group

Kaul comes from Bajaj Group, where he was business head for the group's FMCG business for West Asia. At Hinduja group, he will report to A K Das, chairman, IndusInd Media & Communications.

The Hinduja Group has taken on board Bajaj Group's Ashish Kaul as group vice-president, communications. He will report to A K Das, chairman, IndusInd Media & Communications.

His main role in the company will be to support the digitisation drive of IN Cablenet in the four metros.

Kaul moves in from the Bajaj Group, where he was business head for the group's FMCG business for West Asia.

Interestingly, this is Kaul's second stint at the Hinduja Group. In 1997, he was assistant manager at IndusInd Media and Gulf Oil. Two years later, he moved on to join Zee TV, where he stayed for about nine years. He was at the forefront of CAS drive and launch of India's first DTH platform, Dish TV, in 2005. When he left the company in 2008, he was executive vice-president.

He then had a short stint at BAG Films as group chief operating officer. He has also been group CEO for News 24/E24 channels and consulting director to Level IX Brand Advisory, a premium brand and marketing management firm based in Mumbai.

The Digital Addressable System (DAS) being introduced in phases from November 1 offers a unique opportunity to IMCL to make all its subscribers addressable and monetise its subscription revenues manifold. IMCL has planned new services for the digital cable foray, apart from broadband services such as HD services, hybrid STBs for cable and internet, and Value Added Services (VAS) for digital cable.
