It was business as usual for the broadcast industry, despite the absence of TAM data. Deferred for nine weeks, and again by another five days, the data was finally released on December, 24, albeit without the figures for the news genre.

Within the GEC genre, seven on-ground events took place, and some of these were telecast live. Zee's annual award function, Zee Rishtey Awards, topped the list of events in the Hindi GEC genre, between Week 41 (measuring the viewership patterns from September, 30 to October, 6) and Week 50 (December 9-15).

As per the data provided by one of the TAM subscribers, the sixth edition of the function, telecast on December 2, garnered 42 TVRs. . Following the award night, Colors' People's Choice Awards, an international format brought to India for the first time, garnered 2.8 TVRs on November 25.

However, the Indian Television Awards (ITA) Awards, telecast on Star Plus on November, 25 (right against People's Choice Awards at 9.00 pm) garnered 2.2 TVRs, and stands at No. 3. ITA is in its 12th edition in 2012.

Next, at No. 4, was Star Dandiyaa on Star Plus, with 2.1 TVRs, telecast on October, 28.

Sab Ki Diwali (SAB TV) and Zee ki 20th Diwali (Zee TV) were pitted against each other on November, 10 at the 8.00 pm slot. The two events finished close, doing 1.7 TVRs (SAB TV) and 1.6 TVRs (Zee TV), respectively.

Lastly, the music award function GIMA on Star Plus garnered 1.1 TVRs in its third edition. The event was telecast on the channel on October, 21.

Rowdy, Bachchan and Tiger hit among audience

Among the Hindi Movies that premiered on the channels in the span of these 10 weeks, both telecasts of Akshay Kumar-starrer Rowdy Rathore stood at Nos. 1 and 2 with 5.6 TVRs (12.00 pm) and 5.1 TVRs (8.30 pm), respectively.

At No. 3, Abhishek Bachchan and Ajay Devgan-starrer comedy Bol Bachchan's premier on STAR Gold garnered 4.8 TVRs on October, 27. Close to this, Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger's evening primetime telecast on Sony clocked 4.6 TVRs.

Interestingly, most of the movies premiered on television nowadays are slated at two different time slots during the same day. Ek Tha Tiger also ran at 12.00 pm and 8.30 pm on November, 11.

Grabbing the No. 5 and 6 spots, Oh My God's telecasts garnered almost similar ratings of 3.5 TVRs (1.00 pm) and 3.4 TVRs (5.30 pm) on Colors on November, 18. A comedy and satire, it has Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar in the lead roles.

Next, Ek Tha Tiger's afternoon telecast garnered 3.3 TVRs.

Following this, Joker's television premier on Zee Cinema on November, 10 at the evening primetime slot, recorded 2.3 TVRs. Akshay Khanna and Sonakshi Sinha play the lead roles in the movie.
