GEC Watch: Star Plus loses 18 GRPs, while Zee at No. 2 gains 29 GRPs

Among the top 10 rankings of the programmes on the Hindi GEC genre, three shows are from Zee TV's banner. While none of Sony's shows could get on the list, SAB TV's Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah stands at No. 4.

After the inclusion of five new (Less than class 1) LC1 markets (five states, actually) within the TAM universe, the numbers of the top channels have seen a substantial shift. The five states which are the new additions are Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh (Chhattisgarh not included), Uttar Pradesh (Uttaranchal included), PHCHP (Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh) and Rajasthan. Continuing to stand at No. 1, the Hindi general entertainment channel, Star Plus saw a decline of 18 GRPs (from 281 GRPs in Week 5 to 264 GRPs in Week 6 of 2013).

At No. 2, Zee TV gained 29 GRPs (from 214 GRPs in Week 5 to 243 GRPs in Week 6), as per the data provided by a TAM subscriber.

At No. 3, Viacom 18's Colors witnessed a decrease from 210 GRPs in Week 5 to 206 GRPs in Week 6. Taking the fourth spot, Sony's numbers marginally increased from 159 points in the previous week to 160 in Week 6.

Interestingly, Sony's sibling channel, SAB has held the fort at the fifth position, though it witnessed a drop in GRPs from 134 points in Week 5 to 132 points in Week 6.

At No. 6, Life OK gained 3 GRPs and managed 124 GRPs in Week 6, up from last week's 121 points.

Sahara One, meanwhile, continues to be at No. 7 with 24 points.

Among the top 10 programmes on Hindi GECs, three shows are from Zee TV's banner. Interestingly, while none of Sony's shows could get on the list, Sab TV's Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah stands at No. 4 position.

Zee TV's Sapne suhane ladakpan ke stands at No. 1 with 4.7 TVRs in Week 6. The second position is shared by the two Star Plus shows, Diya Aur Baati Hum and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, with 4.4 TVRs each.

At No. 4, Colors' Balika Vadhu shares the slot with Star Plus' Pyaar Ka Dard Hai with 4.2 TVRs. Sab TV's Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma stands at No. 6 with 4 TVRs. The screening of OMG Oh My God on Colors garnered 3.8 TVRs at No. 7. Star Plus' Saathiya Saath Nibhana is at No. 8 with a TVR of 3.7, followed by Star Plus' Veera and Colors' Sasural Simar Ka (with 3.6 TVR each).

Zee TV's Pavitra Rishta (3.5 TVRs), Madhubala (Colors) and Qubool Hai (Zee TV) follow with 3.4 TVRs each. Nach Baliye gathered 3.3 TVRs and ranked last in the list.
