Bhamidipati was strategic planning director, Publicis Capital. He joined Publicis in April, 2012.
Ormax Media, the media research company, has appointed Venugopal Bhamidipati as insights head, print, radio and branded entertainment. He will report to Shailesh Kapoor, CEO, Ormax Media.
In an official communiqué, Kapoor says, "Our print and radio work has seen significant growth over the last two years. In the area of branded entertainment, we have been working on evaluating the effectiveness of sponsorships and media associations for brands and their media agencies."
Bhamidipati feels that since research has been his core beat, he is happy to move back to research. He adds, "However, the nature of the research organisations that I have earlier worked in is a little different. While at IMRB, I focussed on a vide variety and non-media clients, here at Ormax i get to focus on one particular industry which being media and entertainment in which Ormax has the upper hand of being domain experts."
He adds that though the earlier organisations were well-established and hence, known, Ormax being a comparatively younger organisation will give him a chance to be exposed to various beats and a younger crowd.
A post graduate in advertising and communications from Delhi School of Communications, he started his career in media as a business executive at Maxus. He handled media planning for brands such as Hero Honda, Britannia, Reebok and Hero Cycles at Maxus. He then entered the media research vertical as research manager at IMRB International in 2006.
Later, he had a brief stint of four months at The Nielsen Company as senior client solutions executive in 2008. Bhamidipati then moved on to join Hansa Research Group as associate research director in 2008. Here, he handled research for media companies like Hindi Hindustan, Dainik Jagran and GPI.
Interestingly, after Hansa, he went back to The Nielsen Company for a short period of about seven months in 2010. Shifting from there, he went for his second innings at IMRB International as insights director. After a year and a half there, he shifted to join Publicis Capital as strategic planning director, where he worked until he joined Ormax Media recently.
