A+E Networks|TV18 has promoted Sudheer K G as vice-president and head, programming of its factual entertainment channel, History TV18. He was earlier working as vice-president, programming.
His new mandate involves expansion of the audience base. "We will be sourcing both international and domestic content and focus more on the local productions. Our aim is to target more people above the age of 15 years," he says.
Sudheer adds that the first year was more of a launch for the channel and now it is the consolidation phase. It has understood the market, consumers and is working out its strategies accordingly.
He has nearly 18 years of experience and has worked for Discovery, Asianet Satellite Communications, Bajaj Auto Finance, Usha Martin Telecom Limited and Sterling Holiday Resorts India.
At Discovery India, he was instrumental in the programming and language initiatives of Discovery, Animal Planet and TLC.
History TV18 is the factual entertainment channel launched in 2011. It is a joint venture between Network18 and A+E Networks. It offers content in five different languages in India. Some of its popular shows in India are Bollywood@100, Earth Under Water and The Road Less Travelled. The channel's programming covers a diverse variety of historical genres ranging from contemporary history to core history, technology, natural history as well as science, archaeology and transport.
