TheOneAlliance promotes Makarand Palekar as EVP, sales and strategy

Palekar had joined the company in March, 2010 as senior vice-president, sales and affiliate relations.

Makarand Palekar has been promoted as executive vice-president, sales and strategy at TheOneAlliance (TOA). Also known as MSM Discovery (MSMD), the company is a joint venture for distribution of television channels. Palekar had joined the company in March, 2010 as senior vice-president, sales and affiliate relations. Earlier, he was working at ESPN-STAR Sports as sales head.

Palekar says, "I am looking forward for a challenging role and hope I can live up to the company's expectations by delivering the business objectives."

He will continue to report to Rajesh Kaul, president, TheOneAlliance.

Kaul adds, "Palekar's move to the EVP level is a clear indication that he has been instrumental in taking TheOneAlliance to the height where it is today. He has played an important role in growing revenues and contributing to the success of the company."

With more than 17 years of experience, Palekar had joined ESPN-STAR Sports as a part of the start-up team. He was sales head at the company. He moved to join TheOneAlliance in 2010.

In January, 2013, the company had taken on board Rohit Arora, erstwhile director, marketing at ESPN-STAR Sports to steer its DTH business. He joined the company on January, 7 as senior director, business development.

The distribution company of Multi Screen Media (MSM) and Discovery Communications has completed 11 years in April. The company distributes a bouquet of 28 premium channels to over 100 million homes across 4,000 cities and towns in India. These include the channels from four major stables, Multi Screen Media, Discovery, TV Today Group and Times Television Network.
