Maxus names Kartik Sharma as MD, South Asia

The media agency has elevated Kartik Sharma as managing director. He replaces Ajit Varghese and will report to CVL Srinivas.

Maxus, the media agency from GroupM, has appointed Kartik Sharma as the new managing director for the South Asia region. He will be reporting to CVL Srinivas, CEO, GroupM South Asia and will be taking charge from the current MD, Ajit Varghese in January 2014.

Varghese has now been moved into a new regional role as CEO, Maxus, Asia Paciffic. Sharma will also now be a part of GroupM South Asia EXCO.

Sharma has been with Maxus for past six years. He has over two decades of experience and has worked in different agencies such as HTA (JWT), Mindshare, Lintas and Madison. He began his career in 1995 as a media planner with HTA (JWT) on the Unilever business.

He worked as a media planner with HTA between 1995-1997, as a channel planning director with Lintas between 1997-2000, planning director at Mindshare between 2000-03, dirctor, Madison Media Research Centre between 2003-07 and managing partner with Maxus since then.

Speaking on his appointment, Kartik Sharma, says, "The last six years at Maxus has been very exciting.
