GEC Watch: Bigg Boss 7 touches highest numbers towards culmination

While all Hindi GECs have gained numbers in Week 51 of TAM, Colors was the biggest gainer in terms TVTs; Zee TV and Sony, though, showed a drop ratings.

Bigg Boss 7, the much-hyped reality show on Colors, touched the highest viewership ratings a week ahead of its Grand Finale. The show garnered 6503 TVTs, making the channel the highest gainer in the Hindi GEC flock. Meanwhile, the channel's other much talked-about property, 24, ended in Week 51 with the highest numbers (3981 TVTs), albeit lower than the reality show.

On the back of the two properties and its flagship comedy show, Colors was able to clock 488005 GVTs in the week ended December, 21. The channel could get two of its shows in the most watched list of the genre.

Star Plus, the flagship Hindi general entertainment channel from the STAR India stable, continues to lead the genre with 599179 GVTs in Week 51 as compared to 579369 GVTs in the previous week. Five of the shows of Star Plus featured in the top 10 shows' list.

As per TAM data (HSM, 4+, C&S, including LC1 markets) provided by a TAM subscriber, Colors took the second spot, followed by Zee TV. Zee TV clocked 408807 GVTs, dropping the numbers from last week's 439271 GVTs. The channel could push two of its shows in the top 10 list.

Life OK continued to be at the fourth position with 325759 GVTs, up from last week's 312956 GVTs. SAB's Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has slipped a few notches down in the top 10 list, but the channel has grown from 291060 GVTs to 308658 GVTs in Week 51.

Sony settled for 254912 GVTs, down from 291060 GVTs in the previous week. STAR Utsav followed with 76335 GVTs and Zee Anmol with 64638 GVTs. Sahara One stood last at 36673 GVTs.

Star Plus' Diyaa Aur Baati Hum continued to be the most watched show on Hindi GECs with an average of 13036 TVTs. Zee TV's historical show Jodha Akbar stood next (10529 TVTs), followed by Star Plus' Saathiya Saath Nibhana (10029 TVTs).

Star Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai was at fourth position clocking 9726 TVTs, followed by SAB's Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah that fetched 9643 TVTs.

Colors' Comedy Nights With Kapil that got 8818 TVTs stood next. It was followed by Star Plus' Mahabharat that clocked 8264 TVTs in this week. Next were Star Plus' Pyaar Ka Dard and Zee TV's Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke that recorded 7035 TVTs and 6951 TVTs, respectively.

Tenth in the list is Colors' Balika Vadhu, which garnered 6913 TVTs.
