Deepa Bhatia gets additional responsibility at Disney UTV

Bhatia was responsible for Bindass since March, 2013 when she joined the network.

Deepa Bhatia, erstwhile head of sales at Bindass, has been promoted as youth cluster head, sales. She will also take care of the advertiser funded programming (AFPs) and digital business of the network. She will report to Nikhil Gandhi, vice-president and head of revenue at Disney UTV.

Disney UTV has seen a lot of managerial changes in the recent past, after its managing director and UTV founder-promoter, Ronnie Screwvala decided to step down in October, 2013. The vacant spot was filled by Siddhartha Roy-Kapur, erstwhile managing director of Disney UTV's studio business. Subsequently, M K Anand, managing director, Disney UTV Media Networks quit the company in December, 2013.

Bhatia joined the broadcast network in March, 2013 when she was head of sales for Bindass. The youth cluster of the network includes UTV Stars, a Bollywood entertainment channel and Bindass, the youth entertainment channel.

A post graduate from Delhi University, Bhatia started her career with The Times of India as chief manager in 1989. After being there in various roles for 16 years, she moved on to the broadcasting business of the Times Group (Times Global Broadcasting) as regional head for Times Now. She worked there for two years.

Bhatia joined 9XM as national sales head in 2007 and was responsible for leading the sales team nationally to generate ad sales revenue for 9XM.
