GEC Watch: R...Rajkumar brings Colors back to No. 2

Colors, the Hindi GEC from Viacom 18, has gained huge numbers in Week 7, courtesy the Shahid Kapoor-starrer R...Rajkumar. Though fiction and reality shows on the channel have also done well, the increase in the ratings of the channel can be largely attributed to the Hindi movie that garnered 11527 TVTs for Colors.

Star Plus has maintained its position at No. 1, clocking 701749 GVTs in the current week, against 728231 GVTs in Week 6. The channel could push five of its fiction shows in the Top 10 list.

Slipping back to the No. 3 position, Zee TV has achieved 457287 GVTs, down from last week's 495313 GVTs. Only the historical based show of the channel is among the Top 10 in the genre.

Life Ok, at No. 4, has gathered 327735 GVTs, dropping a few numbers (last week 343882 GVTs). Multi Screen Media's second rung GEC, SAB TV is at No. 5 with 297178 GVTs, marginally above last week's 291599 GVTs. The channel's flagship show, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is amongst the Top 10.

At No. 6, Sony Entertainment Television stands with 274603 GVTs.

As per TAM data (HSM, C&S, 4+), STAR Utsav has registered 78652 GVTs, followed by ZEEL's re-run channel Zee Anmol (65506 GVTs) and Viacom18's latest offering, Rishtey (43239 GVTs).

At the end stands Sahara One with 37219 GVTs in the week ended February, 15.

While R...Rajkumar gathered 11527 TVTs for Colors, Diya Aur Baati Hum (Star Plus) still leads the list of the 10 most-watched programmes, clocking 15194 TVTs.

At No. 2 stands Zee TV's costume drama Jodha Akbar, which registered 12429 TVTs in the week, followed by R... Rajkumar.

Next in the list are Star Plus' Saathiya Saath Nibhana (10183 TVTs) and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (9340 TVTs).

Colors' comedy success, Comedy Nights with Kapil got 9184 TVTs to grab sixth position, followed by SAB TV's flagship property, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (8404 TVTs).

Star Plus' Pyaar Ka Dard Hai and Mahabharat stand next with 8318 TVTs and 8098 TVTs, respectively.

Colors' Balika Vadhu gathered 7300 TVTs.

For the record, the figures mentioned are approximate TVT figures. TVT is television viewership in 1000s (TVR in 1000). It is the average number of individuals in '000s that are available at any given minute of a programme/day part that is under consideration. It captures growth in TV audiences in the country in absolute numbers. The TVR system, in contrast, works on percentages.
