Carat Media has bagged the media duties for General Motors in India. Sources close to the development have confirmed the news. The incumbent agency on the account was Madison Media, which has been handling it since 2005 and retained it for the second time in 2010.The account is pegged at Rs 225-275 crore.

Carat Media will be handling all the duties, including digital and outdoor. The work on the account has already begun. Nearly a year ago, Carat Media had globally bagged the media duties of GM, excluding a few countries that included India also.

Carat Media, which deals in media planning and buying also provides digital and non-traditional media solutions. Carat currently services clients in more than 150 countries and employs more than 6,000 staff worldwide.

GM India started its Indian journey in 1996 and offers products under the Chevrolet brand. Its flagship brand, Chevrolet, was introduced in 2003, with a tagline that said: "For a Special Journey Called Life".

At present, GM India manufactures the Chevrolet Tavera, Chevrolet Optra, Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet Aveo U-VA, Chevrolet SAIL U-VA Hatchback, Chevrolet SRV, Chevrolet Spark and Chevrolet Captiva at its manufacturing facilities at Halol, Gujarat and Talegaon in Maharashtra.

General Motors Technical Centre located in Bangalore is one of the 10 design studios, eight R&D facilities and 12 engineering facilities around the world.

Carat is one of the six global network brands of Dentsu Aegis Network, a part of Dentsu Inc. The other companies in the network are, iProspect, Isobar, Posterscope, Vizeum and the ad agency, Dentsu.
