GEC Watch: Colors jumps to No.3

Almost all the shows of the channel saw a rise in viewership.

Viacom18's flagship Hindi GEC, Colors, is the biggest gainer in week 30 of TAM. According to TAM data (C&S, HSM, 4+), provided by a subscriber, Colors added 50,729 GVTs to get to 3,97,824 GVTs in the week. Almost all the shows of the channel saw growth in viewership numbers. Its recently launched celebrity chat show, The Anupam Kher Show, recorded 2,263 TVTs in the previous week. Colors' comedy non-fiction continues to be one of the most watched show in the Hindi GEC space.

Star Plus maintained its lead in the genre. Though the channel lost around 2,660 GVTs, it closed the week with 7,09,317 GVTs. Five of its shows were in the most watched shows list in the genre. Zee TV held on to the second spot as it concluded the week with 4,38,914 GVTs, up 2,436 GVTs from the previous week's ratings. The channel found three of its shows in the top 10 list.

At No 4 is Life OK that lost 672 GVTs to garner 3,60,675 GVTs in the week ended July 26. It launched a social thriller, Laut Aao Trisha on July 21. The show, a comeback of sorts for Bollywood actress Bhagyashree, clocked 2,133 GVTs in its opening week. Sony Entertainment Television follows with 2,88,358 GVTs (last week 2,70,480). The channel's big bet, the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Yudh lost more numbers. The show that rated 1,198 TVTs in its opening week, settled at 796 TVTs in its second week.

SAB TV, meanwhile, remained at the sixth spot with 2,75,380 GVTs in the week compared to 2,67,631 GVTs in the previous week. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma featured in the top 10 shows chart. Zee Entertainment's recently launched channel, Zindagi, which airs shows brought from Pakistan lost 5,747 GVTs to settle at 22,953 GVTs in the week.

Star Utsav, Zee Anmol, Sahara One clocked 81,046 GVTs (last week 78,799), 80,731 GVTs (last week 72,828) and 14,462 GVTs (last week 13,412), respectively. Star Plus' Diya Aur Baati Hum and Mahabharat are the top two shows in the top 10 list with a rating of 10,379 TVTs and 9,312 TVTs, respectively. At No.3 is Zee TV's Jodha Akbar that fetched 8,571 TVTs in the week.

The next two spots went to Star Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (with 7,995 TVTs) and Saathiya Saath Nibhana (with 7,426 TVTs). At No.6 is Zee TV's Kumkumbhagya with 7,405 TVTs. Colors' Comedy Nights With Kapil occupied the seventh spot with 7199 TVTs. At No 8 is Star Plus' Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, followed by SAB's Taarak Mehta... that registered 6,572 TVTs. At No.10 is Qubool Hai with 6277 TVTs.
