GEC Watch: Slow Start for Sony Pal

Sony Pal, the third Hindi general entertainment channel from Multi Screen Media (MSM), after Sony Entertainment Television (SET) and Sab TV, has had a bad beginning.

GEC Watch: Slow Start for Sony Pal

The channel had high hopes but managed to open with only 11,000 GVTS, as per TAM data (C&S, HSM, 4+), provided by a subscriber. The channel, launched on September 1 with the tagline 'Yeh Pal Hamara Hai', is targeted at the 'traditional, yet modern' Indian woman. However, the shows of the channel failed to appeal to the Indian audiences. Sony Pal's highest rated show is 'Sinhasan Battisi' that rated 190 TVTs in its opening week. It was followed by 'Ek Rishta Aisa Bhi' with 103 TVTs.
