Of the list of top 10 shows this week, four belong to Star Plus. Overall, the pecking order of Hindi GECs remained unchanged.

Leading Hindi general entertainment channel Star Plus saw a big jump in week 44 of TAM as it added 60207 GVTs to garner a total of 655032 GVTs.

As per TAM data (HSM, C&S, 4+), the Star India channel was the biggest gainer of the week. Four of its shows featured in the list of top 10 most watched shows.

Viacom18's Colors followed. The channel added eyeballs this week; it registered 456890 GVTs in the week, as compared to 432194 GVTs in the previous week. The channel managed to push two of its shows into the top shows chart.

Zee TV held on to the third spot with 404572 GVTs, up from 393512 GVTs last week. Three of the channel's shows appeared in the list of top shows.

Multi Screen Media's second GEC Sab TV and Star India's second GEC Life OK followed with a marginal difference. The former closed the week with 306985 GVTs (last week 287091) while the latter settled with 305165 GVTs (last week 256529 GVTs) in the week ended November 1. Note that Sab TV's Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma was one of the most watched shows in the genre, this week.

MSM's flagship channel Sony Entertainment Television stood next with 285159 GVTS (last week 247590).

Zee Anmol, the free-to-air channel from Zee Network, was next in the hierarchy with 104797 GVTs (last week 94836). Star Utsav and Big Magic occupied the next two spots with 80850 GVTs (last week 77511) and 56061 GVTs (last week 59042), respectively.

Rishtey concluded the week with 49630 GVTs (last week 55671), Sony Pal with 31402 GVTs (last week 26215), Zindagi with 31325 GVTs (last week 26614) and Sahara One with 9835 GVTs (last week 11305).

A look at the shows ...

Star Plus' Diya Aur Baati Hum, Saathiya Saath Nibhana and Yeh Hai Mohabbatein are the three most watched shows in the genre with average ratings of 10796 TVTs, 9301 TVTs and 8908 TVTs, respectively.

The next three shows in the hierarchy are from Zee TV's stable - Jodha Akbar (8234 TVTs), Kumkum Bhagya (7080 TVTs) and Jamai Raja (6744 TVTs).

At No. 7 is Colors' Sasural Simar Ka that recorded a viewership of 6447 TVTs in week 44. It is followed by Sab TV's Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma that ended the week with 6317 TVTs.

Star Plus' Ek Hasina Thi and Colors' Udaan rested at the bottom two steps of the ladder with 6073 TVTs and 6021 TVTs, respectively.

For the record, TVT is television viewership in 1000s (TVR in 1000). It is the average number of individuals in '000s that are available at any given minute of a programme (or 'part of day'). It captures growth in TV audiences in the country in absolute numbers. The TVR system, in contrast, works on percentages.
