Ravikant Sabnavis to head Star Pravah

Sabnavis fills a position previously occupied by Prem Kamath, who moved out last August. He moves in from Force India Formula One Team Academy.

Star Pravah, the Marathi general entertainment channel from Star India, has appointed Ravikant Sabnavis to head the channel.

Sabnavis has joined the company as executive vice president and general manager - Star Pravah. He fills a position previously occupied by Prem Kamath, who moved out last August. Kamath is now deputy managing director, APAC for A+E Network.

Sabnavis moves in from Force India Formula One Team Academy where he was the director.

He brings with him over 22 years of experience in marketing, sales and advertising. In the past, he has also worked with Kingfisher Airlines. In addition to his responsibilities in the airline, he also drove marketing for the Force India Formula One team. He joined the UB Group in March 2007 and was heading Marketing at United Breweries.

Prior to joining the UB Group, Sabnavis spent over seven years in the foods industry, at Heinz India on brands such as Glucon-D and Complan. At ConAgra Foods, he was instrumental in launching ACT II Popcorn in India.

He began his career in advertising at Lintas India (now Lowe Lintas) where he worked on clients such as Unilever and Bajaj Auto, in the seven years he spent there.

Sabnavis is a Computer Engineer and a management graduate from the S.P. Jain Institute of Management in Mumbai.
