In order to mark the 60th anniversary of the first climb on Mount Everest, National Geographic Channel, in collaboration with Columbia Sportswear, is launching a documentary on the highest peak on earth.

The five-part documentary series, titled 'Everest Rising', will premiere on April 26, 2015, and air every Sunday at 6 PM. It will depict a climb of the world's highest mountain, through an "adventure-journalistic" lens. Using the personal narrative of a successful climb by four climbers in 2013, it weaves in secondary narratives of the history, hazards and techniques of the climb, the philosophy and the psychology of the climbers, the corporatisation of the Everest expeditions and the incidents and arguments surrounding it.

Talking about the show, Debarpita Banerjee, vice president, marketing and communication, NGC Networks and Fox International Channels, says, "From concept to format to execution, NGC's 'Everest Rising' is an exceptional and remarkable show. Sitting at home, the viewers will get the experience of the enormous characteristic of the Mount Everest. In this season, to be able to see the history and narrative footage of the climbers will be surely a treat served with extra spices."

All the episodes of 'Everest Rising' aim to keep viewers on the edge of their couches and feature the great history of Everest from 60 million years ago. The show will be an epilogue to the world's tallest peak and a hope to a better future. It will provide solutions to issues and will showcase the life of the Sherpas - the original keepers of Everest.

Columbia Sportswear is also running a 'Conquest of Everest' contest on Facebook, where four lucky winners (two male and two female winners) will get a chance to win an Everest base camp trek with Columbia.
