On the eve of our 69th Independence Day, the week's issue of Open Magazine gave readers a chance to feature on its cover, using a technology-enabled innovation.
On Independence Day, weekly current affairs and features magazine Open carried a provocative cover page which asked readers 'Are we free to be free?' This was also the title of the issue's cover story by Pratap Bhanu Mehta.

What's interesting about it is that the cover had an embedded augmented reality feature, as informed by Mohit Hira (Publisher and CEO, Open Media Network). Open, in partnership with UK-based Blippar, gave its readers a chance to be the face of the magazine with a technology-based innovation. Readers were encouraged to download the Blippar app on their smartphones and scan the cover to see their faces on it.
