GEC Watch: Zee Anmol jumps to No. 2; Star Plus still leading

In Week 42 of BARC data, which is now rural-inclusive, Zee Anmol and DD National see huge gains in viewership.

In Week 42 (October 17 - 23, 2015) of the BARC ratings for the Hindi GEC genre, Zee Anmol climbed up to the No. 2 spot, a step up from its No. 3 position last week. While DD National rose to take No. 5 spot with a surge in its ratings, Star Plus was again at No. 1, though it saw a decline in its rating, raking in 734 million in Week 42 versus 804 million in Week 41. Colors, too, saw a dip, and came in at No. 3 with ratings at 650 million, down from 708 million in Week 41.

Zee TV at No. 4 saw a slight hike in its ratings at 595 million compared to 588 million earlier. DD National rose to the No. 5 position up from No. 7 last week, with ratings up 522 million versus 381 million last week.

Life OK came in at the No. 6 spot with a rise in ratings to 495 million in Week 42, from 459 million last week, while Star Utsav slipped to No. 7 position as its ratings dipped to 473 million this week, from 500 million in Week 41.

Sony TV retained its No. 8 spot, though it saw a decline in ratings. It was at 348 million this week compared to 371 million last week. SAB TV, at No. 9 also saw a dip with ratings at 327 million down from the 380 million mark in Week 41. Rishtey was at No. 10 again, with a slight decline in ratings at 268 million in this week versus 270 million in Week 41.

The top three shows among Hindi GECs were Zee TV's Kumkum Bhagya, Star Plus's Saath Nibhaana Saathiya and Colors' Sasural Simar Ka in the first, second, and third spot respectively.

As for the latest TAM data, here are the top Hindi GECs for Week 43, October 18 to October 24, 2015 HSM without LC1, C&S 4+

As per TAM data too, most channels in the top 10 list saw a dip in their ratings. Star Plus is at the top with 222 GRPs, followed by Colors which had 210 GRPs.

Zee TV is at third spot, raking in 142 GRPs, while SAB TV came in fourth with 130 GRPs. Life OK was at the fifth spot this time with 125 GRPs, while at sixth spot is Sony Entertainment with 105 GRPs.

DD National comes in seventh at 67 GRPs, and at the eighth slot, is &TV at 59 GRPS. Zee Anmol and Rishtey are again at the ninth and tenth positions, with 29 and 24 GRPs respectively.
