The media conglomerate has issued a media statement ensuring forensic investigation on the breach.

The Internet has been buzzing since today afternoon and the netizens are both shocked and overwhelmed, as the upcoming episode of HBO drama Game of Thrones has a made sudden appearance on pirated platforms all across internet before its global premiere. The fourth episode was scheduled to premiere globally this Sunday (August 6, 2017) on HBO.

Multiple screenshots of the episode were shared across social media platforms and each of it carried the “Star India” watermark. The screenshot also had “FOR INTERNAL VIEWING ONLY,” written in bold.

The screenshots drew attention towards Star India and the broadcast giant later in the evening released a media statement accepting the compromise. The statement read, “This confirms the compromise of episode 4 of Game of Thrones Season 7, earlier this afternoon. We take this breach very seriously and have immediately initiated forensic investigations at our and the technology partner’s end to swiftly determine the cause. This is a grave issue and we are taking appropriate legal remedial action.”

The repercussions of this act of content piracy remains to be seen.
