Sanjiv Puri appointed as Managing Director at ITC Limited

ITC Group has announced that Sanjiv Puri will be the company’s new Chairman and Managing Director. He was appointed to the post after the passing of former chairman YC Deveshwar on Saturday. ITC’s Board of directors arrived at the decision today when they met to review the company’s results for the financial quarter that ended on March 31.

In an official statement, Puri said "It is an honour and privilege to be appointed the Chairman of ITC. It is a responsibility that I accept with humility and with resolve to build on the legacy nurtured over the years. Further, I will strengthen and build market leadership across all business segments. In the journey ahead, I am sure I can count on the support of our shareholders, partners, associates and most of all, team ITC to continue our shared aspiration to build an exemplary enterprise of pride to the nation."

The Hindu reported that Puri has been working as the managing director at ITC since 2018. He has been a part of the company since 1986 and since then, the report mentioned that he has handled various responsibilities including as the chief of the FMCG business and has led ITC Infotech.

He is also an alumnus of IIT Kanpur and the Wharton School of Business.
