The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), popularly known as Amul, has unanimously elected Ashokbhai B. Chaudhary (chairman, Mehsana Milk Union) as chairman and Gordhanbhai P. Dhameliya (chairman, Rajkot Milk Union) as vice chairman.
The election took place on July 22, 2025, with participation from all 18 member unions. Chaudhary’s name was proposed by Shamalbhai B. Patel (chairman, Sabarkantha Milk Union) and seconded by Ashwinbhai N. Salawiya (chairman, Amreli Milk Union). Dhameliya was proposed by Valamjibhai R. Humbal (chairman, Kutch Milk Union) and seconded by Mohanbhai R. Bharwad (chairman, Ahmedabad Milk Union).
The process was conducted in the presence of the district collector of Anand and the registrar of cooperatives, government of Gujarat. GCMMF has followed the tradition of unanimous elections for leadership since its inception in 1973.
In the financial year 2024–25, GCMMF reported a turnover of ₹65,911 crore (USD 7.7 billion), reflecting an 11.2% year-on-year growth. During the same period, it procured over 12 billion litres of milk and recorded a brand turnover of ₹90,000 crore (USD 11 billion) through its member unions.
Both newly elected leaders acknowledged the role of Gujarat’s dairy farmers and reiterated the importance of the cooperative network in enabling GCMMF’s continued expansion.
