SBI's global CMO Dinesh Menon calls it quits

Global chief marketing officer (CMO) of State Bank of India (SBI) Dinesh Menon has recently moved on from his position.

Menon joined SBI in March 2016. Prior to this, as per his LinkedIn bio, he was engaged in marketing advisory for an e-commerce hospitality brand and a real estate brand where the scope of work included devising market strategy, brand / media strategy, customer service architecture, digital marketing architecture and channel strategy.

Menon started out as an account supervisor at JWT back in 1998 where he was responsible for brand development and marketing communications for Blowplast Industries (VIP), Star Plus, Star News and Standard Chartered Bank.

Menon moved to Lowe Lintas as senior brand services director in 2000 where he worked extensively on Unilever brands (HHC category) in brand development that eventually helped transform Vim dish wash to being classified as a power brand at Unilever.

Apart from Unilever, he also worked on HSBC Bank across the entire business (retail, corporate and SME).

Menon joined American Express in July 2003 as marketing head where he was in charge of handling marketing communications for the bank and direct marketing acquisition channel. He took over the role of business head - Platinum Cards before finally moving on from the company.

Earlier, Menon also worked as VP- marketing, communications and marketing head at Bharti AXA Life Insurance and National Bank of Oman respectively.
