Effies 2014: O&M is back; Reclaims Agency of the Year title

Ogilvy India won 2 Gold, 8 Silver and 16 Bronze awards. Lowe Lintas + Partners came second.

Ogilvy reclaims its throne! Last year, Lowe Lintas + Partners broke Ogilvy's winning spree taking the Agency of the Year title at the Effies. This year, the Piyush Pandey-led Ogilvy India wrested its position back, winning the coveted 'Agency of the Year' award.

The agency took home two Gold, eight Silver and 16 Bronze awards. The Golds were for its 'Tayyari Jeet Ki' campaign for Bournvita (Best on-going campaign category) and 'Google Reunion', a film for Google India (Digital - Online/Mobile communication category). Ogilvy totted up 173 points in all.

Lowe Lintas+Partners, with 142 points, swept away seven Golds, six Silvers and eight Bronzes this year. The agency won Golds for the 'From Dark to Connectivity' campaign for HUL's Kan Khajura Tesan in the 'Integrated Advertising Campaign' category and 'David v/s Goliath' category; Idea Cellular's 'An Idea Can Change your Life' and Tata Tea's 'Jaago Re' campaign in the Best on-going campaign category; Tanishq's 'Remarriage' campaign in the 'Retail' category; Idea Cellular's 'No Ullu Banaoing' campaign in the Services: Telecom and Related Products category and Havells Appliances' '#RespectWomen' campaign in the 'Consumer Durables' category.

Third on the chart is McCann Worldgroup India that bagged two Golds for Saffola Masala Oats' Tukdon Pe Jeena Chodo' campaign - one in the 'Integrated Advertising Campaign' category and the other in the 'Consumer Products - Confectionery and Food' category. The agency was awarded five Silver and eight Bronze metals in Effies 2014 and gathered 90 points.

At No.4 is JWT that failed to grab any Gold but won two Silvers and four Bronzes. The total number of points the agency achieved was 34. Following JWT is Soho Square Advertising & Marketing Communications that won three Silvers and one bronze, besides the Grand Prix that it won for the 'Political Campaign That Created History' campaign for Bharatiya Janata Party in the 'Integrated Advertising Campaign' category. The agency grossed 34 points this year.

The other winners at the Effie awards 2014 in order of ranking were DDB Mudra Group (16 points), Creativeland Asia (14 points), Publicis Communications (14 points), Contract Advertising (10 points), FCB Ulka Advertising (10 points), BBDO India (10 points), BBH Communications India (10 points), Leo Burnett (8 points), Rediffusion Dentsu Young & Rubicam (8 points), Taproot India (8 points), Grey Worldwide India (6 points), Saatchi & Saatchi Focus Network (6 points), Havas Worldwide India (4 points), ibs (4 points), Ignitee Digital Services (4 points).

Interface Communications, Digital Law & Kenneth Saatchi & Saatchi, FoxyMoron Media Solutions and Cartesian Consulting each attained two points with one bronze metal each. This year, the Ad Club Bombay received 465 entries from 60 agencies.
