Creativity is big business today with a global turnover of $2.2 trillion. It is also great fun. People who own ideas have become more powerful than people who own machines. As the knowledge economy booms, there is an acute shortage of qualified, young talent for the advertising and design industries.

There are hundreds of software-focused schools which are unable to make the magic connect between fresh talent and the industry needs. K-Gurukul goes back to Vedic times to borrow a brilliant idea that would work. The Gurukul way of training. Using this methodology, K-Gurukul offers 4 programs to undergraduates and fresh graduates.

"K-Gurukul is not a typical commercial creative training school," says R Annapurani whose brainchild is K-Gurukul. With an expertise of 12 years in the IT and multimedia training industry and 7 years in the advertising business, “we have introduced 4 creativity modules. Training is full-time, 8 hours a day. The training will be by the advertising gurus - people who have hardcore industry expertise. We will just have a maximum of 30 students this year. Our fees structure is perhaps the lowest: Rs. 5000/- per month.”

A study commissioned by K-Gurukul in Hyderabad revealed that most senior advertising practitioners are disillusioned by the lack of new creative talent. Students coming out are highly software focused and lack four important pre-requisites:

1)Strong design foundation,

2)A minimum of 1000 hours of project expertise,

3)Lack of industry exposure &

4)Poor attitude.

K-Gurukul has addressed these and has focused its programs on undergrads and promises at least 1800 hours of hardcore projects experience and strong design fundamentals coupled with a hierarchical career upgrade and design business management add-ons. The 3 year full time program is coupled with a graduation program from a couple of Indian Universities. The twinning program is ideal for undergrads who not only get on to a design platform but build an excellent creative portfolio over 3 years.

The ancient Gurukul training process is powerful, says Annapurani, the ‘Shishyas’ used to stay with the ‘Gurus’ and learn the tools of life thru a practical approach. As they worked, their doubts and shortcomings were polished by the gurus. The field of design is so vast that it is important that the students are taught the Gurukul way. Our concepts are so powerful that we give a job guarantee to every student with a minimum starting salary of Rs. 20,000 +. "We wish to dispel the myth that MBAs and BPOs are the best career options. Today a creative person can earn much more and also have great fun working on projects."

K-Gurukul is getting on its board, senior advertising professionals and distinct teaching methodologies. Our step-by-step methodology is unique. Students will be taught to peel fully finished design jobs, layer by layer, and understand not only technologies but very importantly, the idea behind the design.

Admissions to K-Gurukul are thru a unique mind mapping test and creativity tests followed by a personal interview. We have also reserved 5 seats for economically backward students and physically handicapped kids. We are looking for corporate sponsors who will work with us on a collaborative mission.

K-Gurukul plans to open its centers in Bangalore next year followed by Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkatta and Delhi.

The ancient Indian concepts: Yoga, meditation, discovering creative chakras are fully integrated into our comprehensive curriculum. Students will also learn Business English and will get certified by an international university. We are in the process of a dialogue with some of them. There will also be certifications from Design Software companies like Adobe in the final year. The K-Gurukul Certification will be from an external team of industry professionals.

K-Gurukul is presently offering 4 career driven programs:

1)Visualizer & Graphics Designer

2)Copywriter & Content Developer

3)Web Architect and Designer

4)Digital Artist and Publisher.
