Metso Paper to supply deinking plant equipment to Subburaj Papers

Metso Paper will supply a complete deinking line to Subburaj Papers Private Ltd. in India. The new DIP line will have a daily capacity of 320 tons and the value of the investment is close to EUR 8 million. The Greenfield printing and writing paper plant project is scheduled to start up in mid-2008. The delivery is Metso Paper's first recycled fiber system to be installed in India.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. N.K. Jain, Vice President, Metso Paper (India) Pvt. Ltd., said, “This installation is significant for us as we strengthen our foothold in India. India is a key market for Metso and we invest considerably in new technology and service development in this cost competitive environment. We will not only provide equipments of global standard to Subburaj Papers Ltd, but the company will also enjoy our customized effective solutions and aftermarket services to boost the efficiency of the installed base.”

The line will feature the latest deinking technology, including the energy efficient drum pulper and flotation cells. The delivery is Metso Paper's first recycled fiber system to be installed in India. The pulp will be used for manufacturing high-quality printing and writing paper based on 100 % recovered fiber as raw material. The low consumption of energy will assure reduction in operation costs, improved fiber yield and quality and minimization of the environmental impact on paper manufacturing. “This is one way the company would be promoting waste management,” added Mr. Jain.

The deinking plant equipment and solutions are part of the Greenfield Printing and Writing project of Subburaj Papers Ltd. Founded in the 70s in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu, the Subburaj Group is at par with the worldwide technological evolution and standards. Subburaj Papers Private Ltd. is a part of the Subburaj Industries Ltd., a group of companies based in Tirunelveli, in southern Tamil Nadu. The company is currently a well-established 100% EOU (Export Oriented Unit) in the textile sector. The mill is located approximately 20 km from the town of Tirunelveli and is scheduled to start up in mid 2008.
