Innovation wins awards! Yes, we are talking about the premier television awards, The 7th Indian Telly Awards 2007. The awards, which honored and recognized excellence in television, saw the bold & beautiful brigade of Indian television come in large numbers to cheer and support their fellow actors. The glossy event also had the top channels present there to show their solidarity. Sony Entertainment Television, one of India’s preferred general entertainment channels, won 5 awards in various categories at The 7th Indian Telly Awards 2007.

In the changing space of Indian television, where audiences are moving away from the current run-of-the-mill sagas, Sony Entertainment Television’s endeavor has been to offer its viewers newer formats and fresh concepts which will redefine television viewing and make it more entertaining. Virrudh, the critically acclaimed show on conflicts in relationships (produced by Ugraya Entertainment & Applause Entertainment) was awarded with the ‘Best Ensemble Cast’ and Best Actor Female (Critics) for Smriti Zubin Irani.

Bigg Boss –an internationally acclaimed reality format, which peeked into the life of celebrities, (produced by Endemol India) bagged the Best Reality Show. The show was the talk of the town, breaking new grounds on Indian TV. Comedy Circus, the stand-up comedy show, (produced by Optimistix) that paired celebrity TV stars with stand up comic artists went on to be the most watched comedy show and was awarded the Best Sitcom/Comedy Programme. And finally, CID, the channel’s longest running and most successful detective series (produced by Fireworks) won the Best Thriller Programme award.

The star-studded evening telecast exclusively on Sony Entertainment Television saw some scintillating performances from popular TV stars like Ejaz Khan & Anita Hasnandani, the ever-smiling Mona (Jassi) Singh, the beautiful Urvashi Dholakia, the teenage heartthrob Jay Bhanushali, the conjoined twins AmberDhara and others. However, the highlight of the evening was performances from Shivaji Satam & Smriti Zubin Irani. The event lived up to its claim of being Indian television’s biggest and brightest awards night.
